Merry and Bright Book Stack Decor

This post contains affiliate links.

Looking for an easy craft project to update your holiday decor this year? A handful of dollar store hardcover books and some craft paint quickly transform into a trendy book stack. The perfect farmhouse style home décor with a sweet message for the holiday season.

Book Stack Supplies

  • 3 Hardcover Books
  • Silk Holly Berry and Pinecone (or holiday greenery of your choice)
  • Buffalo Check Ribbon
  • Craft Paint – White, Ivory, Light Grey
  • Alphabet Stamps
  • Ink Pad, Black
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Wire Cutters

Book Stack Instructions

Gather all supplies. Remove the paper dust covers and basecoat the canvas covers of the books with a mixture of white and ivory craft paint. Don’t over mix the colors and let the basecoat be rough, so the dark base is visible through the paint. Set aside to dry.

Dry brush light grey paint around the sides and edges of the books, in places that wear would naturally occur. Set aside to dry.

Using both the upper- and lower-case alphabet stamps, select the message MERRY AND BRIGHT. Place the books spine up, tap each letter stamp in the ink pad and stamp on the spine. The irregularity of the stamped letters gives the project farmhouse charm.

Stack the books together and wrap with buffalo check ribbon, securing with a knot and leaving the tails long. To finish the ends of the ribbon, cut out a triangular notch.

To finish, snip off a section of a silk holly berry and pinecone bunch with wire cutters and tuck into the bow. Change things up by stamping a message that speaks to you and embodies your home and family. Your family and friends will never know how quick and easy this trendy book stack was to create!

The great thing about a project like this is that it can so easily be converted to any purpose or season! Change the ribbon to match your room's color scheme, and include words that mean something to you, or you can put a phrase or quote that you love. The possibilities are endless!

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here! Thing number one, I'm tall. I've been told I should have a warning on my blog, so here it is! I am taller in real life than I appear on the internet.
