As someone who loves movies and awards shows, I'm always a sucker for a red carpet, so I could hardly believe my luck when I was invited to attend the World Premiere of Frozen 2, to walk the red carpet and attend the after party, as part of my attendance at The Geekly Retreat, an entertainment writers conference I was invited to. A dream come true, I couldn't start planning and daydreaming soon enough, and even now, a couple of days after the event, I can hardly believe this is my life!

As is to expected, Disney throws a great party, and this was no exception. Keep reading for more details and photos, and be sure to check back next week for my full review of the movie!

Frozen 2 Red Carpet Decor

The things to look at start right away, even when you're in the first sort of holding area checking in with security and getting your pass, there are oversized posters featuring all of the characters and scenes from the movie. I was still so overwhelmed at this point that I found myself swept up in a tide of people, so I don't have photos of the first part.

Once you get through those logistics, the magic begins. We could see the PeopleTV livestream happening, hosted by the lovely Lola Ogunnaike and Jeremy Parsons, and the stars and other celebrities worked their way across the carpet on that side.

The main decorated entrance is at the end of this section, complete with magic fog rolling over the ground, Olaf, Anna, and Elsa, and some gorgeous arrangements of fall leaves and glorious color.

A cast member stationed there told us that the characters would also be at the after party, so we decided to skip them outside and wait to get our chance later. (Spoiler alert: We never made it)

Once inside the tents, there were fall leaves scattered the length of the ground, and we stopped from time to time to pose along the backdrops that were staged throughout the area. I loved the rock trolls in the first movie, so I was excited to see this guy greet me right at the beginning of the carpet.

I have such pretty friends. Thanks to The Cactus Chronicles for the photo!

It was so fun to experience this with so many of my friends, new and old. In true Lizz and Virginia style, we had to take a moment to be completely ridiculous, and we took this photo:

Seriously. It's a thing now. I would say you can't take us anywhere, but I would really love to get invited back to stuff, so instead I'll say that no Annas or Elsas were harmed in the making of these photos. Pinky swear.

Also, lest you think that the red carpet is all glitz and glamour, allow me to present this, the rest of the red carpet. You're literally walking through a mall with fences on both sides of you.

Celebrity Sightings at Frozen 2

Seeing famous faces that I'm so familiar with is surreal; I mean, I've had celebrity encounters before in my life, but this was different. We were just watching a movie, and then hanging out at the same party. Ordering drinks from the same bar, food from the same catering. I spotted most of the stars of the film from various distances, but also didn't want to get weird if I tried to talk to them, so I only worked up the courage to ask for a couple of photos.

Martha Plimpton voices Yelana, the matriarch (maybe? She's definitely in a leadership role) of the Northuldra people. That might be her current gig, but she'll always be Stef from Goonies to me. She fangirled over my gorgeous Princess Leia phone case, and was so very lovely to chat with for a moment.

We had had a Q&A with the incredible Yvette Nicole Brown earlier in the day, she plays Aunt Sarah in the new Disney+ live action “Lady and the Tramp.” She greeted us like we were old friends, and spent about 20 minutes chatting with us. We'll get to see a lot of her on Disney+ in the coming months and years, she's got a couple of hosting gigs coming up, and is wonderful in “Lady and the Tramp.”

While we were talking with Yvette, a pair of familiar but we couldn't place them faces came up and joined the conversation. WE figured out soon after that it was Jeremy and Lola from the livestream preshow! We had seen the stream being broadcast inside the theater, so it was wild to then chat with them at the party. It turns out that Lola was actually at Mom2 a couple of years ago, so I'm hoping that our paths cross again in the future.

(She actually also moderated the panel at the global press conference on Saturday morning, so we did indeed see her again!)

My Frozen 2 Red Carpet Outfit

And now what really matters, my outfit, amiright? I loved how my outfit came together, and while I can't brag that it cost less than a cup of coffee (Ahem, Amiyrah) I loved my look and felt amazing in it.

I had spent a bunch of time stressing over what I was going to wear; I ordered a bunch of dresses from Amazon and hated them all, I searched high and low and found nothing. And then I went to Nordstrom Rack and found The Perfect Thing, like I always do when I hit the Rack. Will someone please remind me to go there FIRST next time I need a red carpet lewk?

I found this gorgeous Vince Camuto jumpsuit ON CLEARANCE. It fit like a glove and has pockets! Thankfully, because it was designed to be worn with heels, I actually found the length perfect on me IN FLATS. I spent a few days searching for the perfect hot pink flat. I wanted to play off the pink and red color block detail, but was stuck for the perfect shoe. Then I checked my email and discovered a brand new style and color way from Rothy's, and I couldn't have custom created a better pair of shoes.

I talked before about my mad love for Rothy's, and if you use my referral link, you'll get $20 off your first pair!

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make my accessories, if course. (If you're new here, I also own Pew Pew Lasercraft) I wanted to use my accessories to tie in the colors of my outfit with the purse that I was going to make. I actually bought the material for my purse before I had my outfit; it just seemed so perfect for the Frozen theme, I couldn't pass it up. It ended up being the perfect pop of color to go with my mostly-neutral ensemble.

The earrings and necklace are painted wood and colored acrylic. I used a mirror acrylic on the back of the pendant, so I always had a lipstick mirror on hand, and the earrings are actually just mounted on cut matte board for a little extra stability without too much weight or thickness.

My purse is lasercut from acrylic, and the fastener is embellished with painted wood that matches the wood of the jewelry pieces. I'm thrilled with how it turned out!
