Farm Fresh to Me?

Note: We actually got 4 ears of corn, about 30 of those tiny potatoes, 2 Saturn peaches and a dozen or so plums

I've been going back and forth for quite some time, wondering if we should join Farm Fresh to You. I really liked the idea of getting fresh, organic, seasonal produce delivered right to our house, but I also worried that we'd have too much waste, since, no matter my good intentions, we don't always eat the produce we buy, let alone if it's something we don't necessarily care for!

Well, we were at the Alameda County Fair on my birthday, and we could resist no longer. Along with many of my other life changes, I decided that it was finally a good time for us to sign up and give it a try. There are a variety of box sizes, and types, so I'm sure we'll be able to make it work for us!

We signed up for bi-weekly delivery of the “Regular Mixed” box, and our first delivery is pictured above. It's mostly things we eat on a regular basis, the only questionable thing (to us) is that weird little UFO squashy looking thing on the right. It, along with the 2 squash and all of the mini potatoes, are currently roasting together in the oven, so I'm excited to try it!

Our box came on Thursday morning, and Thursday night we had amazing BLTs for dinner, polishing off those gorgeous tomatoes and some of the lettuce. We've all been working our way through the fruit (one of the peaches didn't even make it to the table for the photo!) and tonight's side dish is a bunch of roasted yum from the box as well.

Hoping that we'll be able to keep up with the incoming veg, I'm really excited about getting Farm Fresh to You and can't wait to see what else will come!

I've had so many people say, “I've thought about ordering it, so let me know what you think!” Well, here's what I think: Do it! There are lots of sizes of boxes, just fruit, just veggie and “no cooking required” boxes as well!

Want to try it? Use coupon code 6164 when you order and get $10 off! (Tell them that I sent you (Lizz Porter) and I'll get a credit too, which I would really, really appreciate! ๐Ÿ™‚ You can call 800-796-6009 or go to farmfreshtoyou.com to sign up.

Do you get Farm Fresh to You or some other CSA delivery? What do you think? What do you do with your veggies? I'd love to hear your ideas!

This is not a compensated review; if you use me as a referral, I will get a store credit, but I was not asked by Farm Fresh to You to post this. I just think it's cool and want to share the awesome $10 discount!

  1. Good for you. I have also “thought” about it. I have talked to people who does this and they rave about it. I never been to a farmers market so maybe I will start there. Do you get to order the kind of veg/fruit you want. I love the idea that it is delivered. Hmmm maybe I will just bite the bullet and go for it? I will check it out. Thanks for sharing! the picture of the mix looks AWESOME!
    XOXO,

    1. The boxes are pre-selected based on what’s in-season and available, but you can edit the box… I actually will go to the site tonight and check what next week’s box is, in case there’s something we don’t want, and then they’ll substitute.
You can also set global preferences, like we NEVER want cherries, since we have 3 trees in our backyard and are drowning in them! LOL
