Fiery Suffragette Cocktail

So I don't know if you've heard, but there's a big election happening in a couple of weeks. 😉 I'm already making plans for how we'll spend election night watching the returns, and what better way than with a Fiery Suffragette cocktail and some coloring pages from the Feminist Activity Book?

Drink Like a Woman isn't released until Nov. 1, but you can pre-order now on Amazon using the link below, so you have it in time for Election Day.

Drink Like a Woman, a new recipe book from Jeanette Hurt, features more than 70 recipes that are presented as eras in women's history, and it's filled with fun tidbits and factoids.

While I made this as a cocktail, it can also be “Suzy B's Virgin Voter” by leaving out the booze. (Did you know that Susan B. Anthony was pro-temperance?)

Fiery Suffragette

  • 4 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1 T. honey
  • 1 t. lime juice
  • 2-3 drops lime essential oil
  • 1.5 oz. vodka or rum
  • Seltzer water

In cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients except seltzer.
Shake well with ice.
Pour over ice in tall glass, top off with seltzer.
Add 2 more drops of lime essential oil, garnish with lime wedge.

Note: Be sure the oil you use is safe to ingest! If you don't have lime essential oil, squeeze more lime juice on top.

You can also while away the time with some coloring and activity pages from The Feminist Activity Book; rate classic feminist books, design your own t-shirts, search for the lone woman in a room full of male CEOs, Where's Waldo-style.

Other drink recipes in the book include Frida Kahlua, Curie Royale, Rosé the Riveter, and the Bra Burner. Most of the recipes are simple to make, variations on classic drinks.

How will you spend election night?

I received advance copies of the books, but all opinions are my own and no other compensation was received.

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here! Thing number one, I'm tall. I've been told I should have a warning on my blog, so here it is! I am taller in real life than I appear on the internet. Want to know more than this "short" version? Go here to read more about me and my family, and for links to some of my favorite posts.
