What’s the big deal with eShakti.com, anyway?

DSC_5432In case you live under a rock, or haven't ever been to my blog before, there's something I need to tell you.
Ready?
I'm tall.
Six feet tall. That means long legs (36 inch inseam), long arms, a long torso, wide shoulders… you name it, and I'm probably out of proportion from the “average” woman.
But I AM an average woman.
I love dresses, and I love wearing them and dressing up and looking cute.
I have long loved the retro 1940's vibe of a structured little shirtdress.
I actually watch and drool over June Cleaver and Lucille Ball's wardrobes.
There are sites that sell those styles, for sure.
But they never fit my not-averagely-proportioned self.
The waist ends up around my ribcage, and the boob darts are somewhere around my collarbone.
I'm all outta whack.

I thought I was condemned to a lifetime of separates and empire waists, until I discovered eShakti.

eShakti offers reasonably priced, custom fit clothing that all has that darling retro feel… cute prints, darling embroidered details, AND they custom make everything to your measurements!

Check out the dress below; you can add sleeves, change the length, or change the neckline. (Different styles have different options)

Also? Everything comes with pockets. POCKETS! Skirts with pockets are always a win!

When eShakti asked if I'd be interested in reviewing one of their dresses, I leapt at the chance and chose this fabulous chambray one:

It's like a blank canvas as far as dresses go, and I love it with red accessories for pop! And someone really needs to invite me to a western-themed party, because this dress is just begging for some cowboy boots and a sterling silver belt!

But wait! There's more! Before I was even given this dress to review, I was already an eShakti addict. I wore this bird print dress for Easter, and the cute striped top up at the beginning of this post? That's eShakti too! I love knowing that things will fit me; no midriff baring tops, indecently short skirts or misplaced waist bands for me!

Oh, and (it's a sickness, I tell you!) I also ordered these two cuties. I love this shawl collar day dress, and can't WAIT to wear the yellow one at Blogher next month! Because it's a MAXI dress, y'all! And it's actually long on me! All of the maxi dresses I've ever worn or wanted to wear came to a weird just-above-ankle length. No more!

All of the pieces are beautifully made; the fabric quality is fantastic and the craftsmanship is gorgeous. For not that much more money than I'd spend at the mall for a dress, I can get a custom made one that's perfect for me! (And if it isn't perfect? Return it! Even custom stuff!)

Disclosure: I received 1 dress for free from eShakti.com in exchange for agreeing to write about it. I purchased the other 3 dresses and the top on my own, with real money. All opinions and content here are my own, I promise. And I currently have 3 or more pieces in my cart on the site. Again.

When online and real life collide. Oh, the awkward. »
Welcome, I'm so glad you're here! Thing number one, I'm tall. I've been told I should have a warning on my blog, so here it is! I am taller in real life than I appear on the internet. Want to know more than this "short" version? Go here to read more about me and my family, and for links to some of my favorite posts.
