We did a $60 home improvement project the other night… it was a total impulse, but I'm so happy with how it turned out!
We got a GC for Home Depot for Christmas, and have been meaning to use it ever since… we finally did!
I've been wanting a new sconce for the bottom of the stairs since we moved in… I'm not a big fan of the whole “handing bead droplet thingy that serves no purpose” look.
So, $30 later, I have a new one, which I love!

Jamie actually spotted the window covering stuff… it's a cling vinyl, basically, that we trimmed to fit our window.
We are going to get rid of the juniper that's outside, so we've been looking for something to cover that window… I'd love a piece of *real* stained glass, but they're way expensive, so this will work in the meantime!

Here's the landing, before or little project:

and after:

Here's how the window looks from outside (if you're standing at the front door):

And, a couple close ups of the sconce, before and after:
Out with the old *gag*…

And in with the new! *happy sigh*

So it looks like we're actually starting the kitchen very soon! The loan should fund this week or next, and then we're off! I cannot wait to embark on this big adventure! (They say that a major home remodel is a great test for couples… should be interesting!)

  1. I like your new sconce and the “fake” stained glass. The sconce is much more modern and the cling vinyl is the perfect colors for your walls. Very nice!

  2. Love the window covering, looks great.

Ok so I do like the old light fixture…I’m weird..LOL…but really love the new one. You both have great taste.
