I had wanted to do a bit of a photo shoot for last week's Thursday #450, but skipped it because it fell on Thanksgiving. So here it is instead.
As the mom of a boy, there's a silly opportunity that I didn't think I'd ever have. What is it? To have my kid wear a piece of clothing I wore as a child. I have very few pieces of my childhood clothing. Add to that that Max isn't really a dress guy, and it was never something I thought I'd get to do.
It hadn't even crossed my mind, really, until we saw our friend Sarah, when we were in Texas in October. She handed me a gift, and sheepishly said, “I'm not sure how I ended up with this, exactly…” and there it was.
My original Strawberry Bluegrass Festival t-shirt from 1982!
Never mind that Sarah and I lived together 15 years ago, and that she's moved halfway across the country since then, she's held on to this piece of my childhood for all those years, and now it's back with me! AND it's just Max's size! Kismet and meant to be and all that, amirite?
And just like, a parenting goal that I didn't even know I was missing has now been achieved.
And because what's a “now and then” post without the “then,” I present a picture of me, my sister, and our friend Cat, at the 1982 Strawberry Bluegrass Festival.
I’m so glad I held on to it! That truly is a special thing, Lizz! I’m so glad I was able to make this happen!
