It's all BlogHer all the time around here, since I leave in just 4 days! Tonight I was going through making sure everything fits in my suitcase, and decided to share with you…
Ten Things I'm Taking to BlogHer
1. My bloggy business cards
I'm super excited about how these turned out, which is a big deal, if you read this post. I can't wait to hand them out, and as a bonus, I may have snagged a new freelance client because I was showing these off on Twitter and the print shop RT'd me! (gotprint.net, BTW… amazing prices and great print quality!)
2. Fashion accessories
This is a big deal: I am terrible at accessorizing, and I generally only wear my wedding/engagement rings, a claddagh ring Jamie bought me on our honeymoon and the diamond stud earring I got for my 30th birthday. Organizing “statement” necklaces and bracelets and dangly earrings is a big thing for me! I owe mad props to my co-worker and boss; I've been test-wearing my outfits to work for the last couple of weeks, so they can critique and make suggestions. I've managed to put together some outfits that I'm really comfortable in and feel good in, and have spent very little money to do so! Speaking of outfits…
3. My favorite short-sleeved sweater
Jamie doesn't understand the short-sleeved sweater trend, and I have somehow accumulated three or four of them. He always comments when I wear one! LOL But this green one, and impulse buy a year or two ago, has become of my favorite things I own. It goes with a huge variety of pieces I own, and is the perfect weight for those in-between weather days (and overly A/C'd conference rooms!)
4. A sparkly minidress
I found this randomly on the clearance rack at Kohls, and just couldn't pass it up for Sparklecorn, so now it's mine! I'm wearing it with black leggings and flats, so it's not over the top, but it is totally different from what I'd usually wear, so I'm pretty excited about that!
5. Adorable flats
Shoes are important, of course! I'm packing 4 pairs for 3 days, and could actually have easily taken six pair, but don't want to go overboard! I'm generally sticking with flats, the only exception being my spectacularly comfy Born heeled sandals that I wore all over Europe on our honeymoon.
6. Electronics
Get 3500 geeky ladies together and there will be a LOT of electronics around! I am no exception.
Not shown: DSLR and charger, laptop with power cord and mouse, Flip cam, camera card reader, phone and charger, surge protector
7. Sparkly little clutch for parties
I don't want to have a big bag to carry around at parties, so this is perfect for my cards, room key, a few bucks and my phone. And, it's glittery.
8. Emergency wine
A bottle of Cupcake Vineyard Chardonnay for my roomie Jessica and I, just in case there's a wine emergency! I'm predicting a wine emergency while we get ready for parties on Saturday night. Jamie and I decided to vacuum seal with the Food Saver because, well, we're weirdos. My original logic was that if the bottle broke in transit, this would keep the mess off my clothes. My sister pointed out that the bottle is made of GLASS and will probably tear through the plastic bag. Whatever, reality check. I think it's funny!
9. My toiletry bag
This was a bridesmaid gift from my sister, almost 7 years ago… she calls me Libis, which is the origin of my Twitter handle and Blogger URL. It's gone on all of my trips since I got it, so of course BlogHer is no exception! It holds all the usual stuff… shampoo, brush, razor, makeup, tweezers, and, of course,
10. Secret Clinical Strength Waterproof Deodorant
I, along with what I estimate to be approximately 29.57026% of the BlogHer population, will be using this specific type of anti-stinky stuff. Thanks, Klout!
I would probably need a carry on just for gadgets. I love that sparkly dress and bag! I am not a sparkle kind of girl but those are so cute. I used to bubble wrap bottles. There are lots of us weirdos out there. Don't want to jinx you but in all those years of flying I never once had any bottles break. Just leaky shampoos. So I see a bright future for you, Jessica and Chardonnay.
