I'm wearing red today.
Thousands, millions of people are wearing red today.
Because today matters.
This week matters.
The Supreme Court begins deliberations of Prop 8 today, and on the Defense of Marriage Act later this week.
I'm wearing red because it's the only thing I can do.
I'm not in DC; I can't go stand in peaceful demonstration there.
I'm wearing red because I think love matters, and marriage matters.
I want my friends and people I care about to be able to marry who they love.
It's as simple as that.
There are lots of funny memes and quotes going around, but it comes down to happiness.
“Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” How can someone pursue that happiness with a wall of hate in inequality blocking their way?
I look at incredible friends of mine, long-term committed relationships with gorgeous children and happy lives. All they want is to be equal.
I'm proud to see my Facebook feed this morning, exploding with support. It doesn't matter if *you* are straight or gay. You do what you need to do to get your bliss. It is not up to the government to decide who holds that for you. Your heart loves who it loves.
And because of that, I'm wearing red today.
And this? Is beautiful:
*sniff* I love you.
Back ‘atcha lady! XOXO
Awesome-sauce. ๐ proud to be among the many!
Right? It’s so cool to see!
Love!
Totally makes me so happy!
I wish I would have known that it was wear red day! Hmm… can tomorrow be wear red day instead?
I think every day can be wear red day if you want it to be! ๐
