What is a snowman, anyway? #TheLastSnowman #giveaway

I'm not gonna lie.
As a Bay Area native, Max has seen snow exactly three times in his life.
Last week, when we went to Tahoe, he thought this was sledding:

Seriously.
“Look Mommy! I'm sledding!”

So when the fabulous JC Little asked if I'd be interested in being a part of her blog tour for her new book, The Last Snowman, I wasn't entirely sure why she asked me.

Snow doesn't mean much to our family of temperate climate dwellers. BUT, I love JC and her work, so I figured, why not?
lastsnowman1We brought the book with us on our Tahoe trip, thinking it would be the perfect bedtime story to read on our snowy adventure.

And I was SO right.

A sweet story about her daughter, told in JC's signature style, made Max and me laugh and, I'll admit it, tear up a little at the end.

I'm not going to spoil it for you, though, because the closing line is the best part.

lastsnowman-maxpileCalifornia does t-shirts in the snow. Because it was about 65 degrees out.

I told you we're clueless about this white stuff!

The Last Snowman is the kind of story that will forever come to my mind when I see a snowman. (Well, that and that now famous question, do you want to build a snowman?)

It's a darling story of one of those coming-of-age moments that can pass all too quickly, and you'll lose them if you aren't paying attention. As a parent, we have to know that there are those moments that slipped through our fingers, but this book is a fabulous reminder to take note of them as they happen. Even if we aren't all as artistically inclined as JC.

lastsnowman2OK, enough sappy mommy time, right? Let's get to the good stuff!

Want to win your own copy of The Last Snowman*?
*and other awesome goodies
Other awesome goodies include: A Last Snowman mug, featuring one of the illustrations from the book, and perfect for hot cocoa after a romp in the snow! An awesome Boiron gift pack; they are a world leader in homeopathic medicines for the whole family, and I *love* their products as much as JC does! You'll also get a custom Dot & Lil soap, created especially for this Last Snowman tour, and it's “Hot Chocolate Swirl” scented! (Flavored? Scented. Do NOT eat the soap, no matter how good it smells.) They're also including their shea rescue butter for lips and nails.

LOVE putting food coloring in a spray bottle of water and letting the kids “paint” their snowman.

I’m actually kind of jealous that you get to play in the snow in t-shirts! The closest I got to that was the time I sat in an outdoor hot-tub in the winter. It was AWESOME. But I had to wear a hat to keep my head warm!

Thanks for sharing your warm snow play (sledding hee hee) stories and the sweet review of The LAST Snowman, Lizz.

We had a hot tub on the deck, too… but we were sharing the cabin with all of my co-workers, and I just don’t need them to see me in a bathing suit!
