Please help us pass this important legislation in California, which is set for a hearing on Wednesday, July 1!

Donate Life California, administrator of the state-authorized organ and tissue donor registry, is sponsoring Senate Bill 552, which would require public high schools that elect to offer health education classes to include 15 minutes on organ and tissue donation. Our goal is to provide students with the foundational knowledge about donation so that they can make an informed decision at the time they first apply to get their drivers license or identification card at the DMV.

Donate Life California is committed to providing schools with instructional materials so there will be no additional cost to our schools or state.

Please personalize the attached letter and email to info@donatelifeca.org or fax to 916-880-3510. The favor of your reply by end of day this Friday (6/26) would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for supporting our lifesaving mission!

Re: SB 552 (Padilla) โ€“ Support
Dear Assemblymember Brownley:
As a [INSERT CONNECTION TO TRANSPLANTATION, i.e. heart recipient], I am proud to support SB 552 (Padilla), which would require health classes in grades 9-10 to include education on organ and tissue donation and
recovery. The goal of SB 552 is to meet the ongoing need for donated organs and tissues by enabling high school students to make an informed decision as to whether to register as organ and tissue donors when they apply for their
first driverโ€™s license.
I strongly believe in educating our students on organ and tissue donation.

[WRITE BRIEF PERSONAL STORY DESCRIBING HOW YOU HAVE BEEN TOUCHED BY ORGAN
DONATION/TRANSPLANTATION].

Donate Life California, administrator of the state-authorized organ and tissue donor registry, is committed to providing
schools with instructional materials so there will be no additional costs to our schools or the state.
A recent study shows overall support (72% of those surveyed, with 47% indicating strong support) for educating
soon-to-be-licensed teenagers on organ and tissue donation. SB 552 will make such education much more
widespread, and equipped with foundational knowledge about organ and tissue donation, first-time drivers can make
a confident decision about their opportunity to save lives as registered organ and tissue donors.
