I love spice blends. They're a quick and easy way to add flavor to dishes, and by making your own, you can tweak and perfect them for your family. These are some of our favorite salt-free and low-salt seasoning combinations. As a bonus, they make an excellent gift! I order spice jars from SpecialtyBottle.com and then package them up together with my own custom labels to make cute little gift packs.

Last year for Christmas, we used custom spice bottles as filler in some newly restored cast iron pieces that Jamie had found and refinished for his brothers.

This is a collection of specifically salt-free or very low-salt blends… as I'm trying to keep my sodium intake down while I'm on dialysis, it's easy to reduce my consumption by making my own blends at home, instead of relying on store-bought versions.

As a bonus for you, scroll down to find a free printable of labels I've designed for all of the blends included here!

  1. Hi Lizz!

I make my own shake n bake for chicken because I find the box stuff too salty. Iโ€™ll send you my recipe if you want. Thereโ€™s no salt in it at all.
