I know I've said before that I don't write much about my husband, Jamie, for a reason. That he didn't sign up for this blogging thing, and that I didn't want to subject him to judgment or criticism on things that I might say. I'll admit I'm not a neutral party when it comes to those annoying things that every spouse deals with (*coughclosingcabinetdrawerscough*) in their daily lives.
I might find it blogworthy, or at least Tweet-worthy, when Jamie makes one of his very funny observations about life and other craziness that happens. Here's how it often goes down at our house, while we're sitting on the couch, watching TV:

Jamie: โ€œ___Insert hilarious one liner about actor currently on screen here___โ€
Me: Literal LOL
I reach for my phone, which is never far away, or sit forward to reach the keyboard on my laptop, which lives on the coffee table.
Jamie: โ€œYou're not going to tweet that, are you?โ€
Me: โ€œOh. No, of course not.โ€ Innocently refreshing my email and Facebook as cover for my previous intent.
And then the world misses out on what may have been the best joke ever.

Jamie likes his offline life; I understand that. He doesn't choose to live in this social media sphere where I spend so much of my time. I get it. But that doesn't mean that I'm not going to share when he's doing something truly blogworthy!

Jamie is a maker. A group of his friends call him โ€œThe Craftsman,โ€ and with good reason. He cooks, and tinkers, and designs and builds furniture. When I was pregnant with Max, I remember sitting in the rocking chair in the nursery, holding a table lamp in my outstretched arm. โ€œI think…. just about…. here.โ€ Holding the lamp at just the right height, Jamie swooped in with a tape measure and built me a table at that just right height. He is a man of many hobbies; baseball fan, cycling enthusiant, survivalist guy, food smoker, barbecue god.

He can take a pile of rust and junk and turn it into something cool.

It impresses me, and I'm proud when he finishes a really cool project. So proud, in fact, that I'm going to start documenting his projects here on my blog, in a series of posts I'm going to call โ€œMy Ridiculous Husband.โ€ In our family, ridiculous is a term of endearment, because he often goes above and beyond, to make things truly amazing.

So. Keep an eye out; this is a man who restores vintage camping equipment, collects antique cast iron cookware, is designing a teardrop camping trailer, and makes bracelets that double as sutures in case you're trapped somewhere in the wilderness and have a cut that needs stitching.

I've been talking about this series for a long time; and I'm excited to finally launch it!

How about you? What does your husband (or wife?) do that would qualify them as ridiculous?
