I really and truly can't take credit for any of this, except that the closet design was originally my idea. Seriously… Jamie did all this work over the course of 2 weeks, late nights after work, and it looks amazing!

He even chose the paint color! (Crayola brand “Wild Blue Yonder” extra heavy-duty for grubby little Spiff fingers!)

The checklist of what's he's done is pretty impressive to me… we scraped the popcorn ceiling a couple of years ago, but never textured it… we've had nekkid drywall for all that time! So he textured and painted the ceiling, repainted the crown moulding, installed all new baseboards, removed the lame old closet organizer, installed the new setup (with custom countertop!) and painted the whole room!

I helped with the cleaning of the room, because it really was a disaster. We've gotten rid of about 2 carloads of junk and filled our big garbage can a couple of times as well, and we still have a bit more to move out, mostly books and a few tchochkes that need new homes.

OK, enough talk, onto the pics! There's only a couple here, because there are some things I want to “reveal” when it's done, but this at least shows the color!

The teeny tiny closet presented a problem; the room is barely 10×10, and the closet is only 46″ wide… we decided to go in a slightly non-traditional direction. The cabinets are actually garage-grade, so they're heavy duty, and the countertop is butchblock from Ikea. We're going to put a hanging rod under the counter on the right for when he can help dress himself. In the meantime, the diaper pails/hamper will go there and the changing pad goes on top of the counter.
We're also going to do shelves to the right of the wall cabinet as well. I love how the baseboard goes around the base of the cabinet; it really does give it a finished, built-in look.
We are not planning doors or anything for the closet; they would just take up space that we really don't have to spare.
The crazy thing that Jamie pointed out is that if we live in this house long enough, that changing station could turn into Spiff's homework desk!
We've washed and folded (and put away! LOL) the clothes we've already gotten as hand-me-downs… this kid is totally set for sleepers until like 9 months old!
And this is the famous John Lennon bedding that's been stashed at my parents house for the last 3 or so years… it's really too too cute, and I love it as much now as I did when I first saw it so long ago!

So check me out! 2 updates in less than a week! I can't believe it!

I'll have Jamie snap a couple of updated belly pics tonight… 27 weeks today!
