Together we wait
A beautiful stone bead shaped like a tiny kidney hangs on a dainty silver chain. Wear this necklace and stand with Lizz as she waits for a donor.
Stone colors vary, and measure approximately 10mm. Chain is silver plated and is 20” long.
You can request a color preference, and I'll do my best to fulfill it. (Actual colors vary because these are natural stones)

Hi there! If you don't know me, thanks for stopping by. My name is Lizz, and I'm the blogger behind More Than Thursdays. I'm a mom, a wife, a Star Wars geek, and since October of 2017, I've been on dialysis while I wait for a kidney transplant.
My kidneys originally failed in 2001, and this will be my (eventual) third transplant. Some girls just get all the luck, amirite?
I'm very fortunate that I have excellent insurance to cover the vast majority of my transplant-related costs and medications. Even with my great coverage, there are many things that aren’t covered.
I’m currently having a number of friends tested to potentially donate a kidney to me, in an effort to shorten what could be a 12+ year wait for a cadaver donor.
As someone who has “lived” online for many years, most of my online friends are not local to me, so when I put the call out for people to be tested to donate, the responses came in from near and far.
While the initial testing can be done near wherever a potential donor lives, the next phase of testing has to happen here at my home clinic, UCSF.
At this time, all funds raised will be used for expenses related to testing donors. Plane tickets, gas money, meals. It’s not legal for us to pay for a kidney, but I certainly want to be able to cover the expenses that my donor may incur while they try to help save my life.
Questions & answers
How much is the necklace?
We’ve set a suggested price at $20, but anything is appreciated.
Are you still looking for a donor?
I am, and am currently having a number of friends being tested. If you’re interested in getting more info or applying to donate, you can start the process here: UCDonor.org. (Since it will ask, my birthdate is 7/4/77)
Who is your donor?
I don’t know yet. I know of one friend who has passed the first round of testing, but I know of a few others who have applied as well. I’m purposefully staying out of it as much as I can so I don’t obsess over it and get disappointed.
What will this money be used for?
While we’re testing, it will be used to cover transportation and lodging for my potential donor, and any other unexpected expenses that may arise. If and when a transplant happens, it will be used for other related expenses for both the donor and Lizz.
How else can I help?
There are other concrete things you can do; every blog post that you share helps because I make money based on traffic to my site. Every purchase that you make through one of my affiliate links puts a few cents into my account. Not into necklaces? I’ve got a t-shirt shop too, and you’ll get free shipping, and that money will go directly into this transplant fund, if you use promo code KIDNEY.
