Jamie's mom was a lifelong Cubs fan. She grew up in Chicago, and grew up going to games. It's thanks to her gifting us plane tickets that we were able to go to a game at Wrigley back in 2013, and all I can think is how much I wish she'd been around last night to see her Cubbies win it all.
While our Giants didn't go as long as the Cubs, I know the feeling of baseball heartbreak, and the exhilaration of winning the World Series. It's a glorious feeling for sure, and watching the fans in Chicago and everywhere last night, it took me back to that night in 2010.
Thanks for winning, Cubs. It pulled everyone together in a way that this country needed. My Facebook feed was FULL of baseball. Not politics, or hate, or Starbucks cups. It was the joy of baseball, of dreams fulfilled, and it was glorious.
There's room for everyone on the bandwagon. 🙂
