Finding moments, finding me

I'm busy. I don't say this as a glorification of it, it's just fact. I'm a mom, and a wife, and I work. And I blog. Oh, and dialysis. There's very little time to do the things I really WANT to, and barely enough time to do what I HAVE to. And so, I dig into the moments in between.
Right now, as I write this, I'm sitting on the train, heading into work. I'm on this train for about 90 minutes round trip, and that's uninterrupted time that I can do what I want.
There's no internet on my laptop, so it's basically the only dedicated writing time I get.
I've got Broadway showtunes in my ears, and I'm typing away in the Stickies app on my Mac.
I'm just an anonymous person on the train. No one's looking to me for answers or opinions or anything. If I'm lucky, I manage to snag a seat and I can spend the time writing instead of just holding myself upright as the train stops and starts at the various stations between home and work.
You're going to be seeing some changes around here this year; as my blog becomes a teenager (seriously; 13 years this summer!) it's time for some things to change.
There's going to be less Max. He's started to flex his personal space muscles and will sometimes ask me not to post things online. While it opens important conversations between us, about ownership of his body, the difference between taking and distributing private photos, and things like that, it also means I get less “free” content from him.ย The Thursdays will continue, but they're moving off the main page into their own space, which you can access right here. I still envision him taking ownership of it one day, so we'll see what happens.
There's going to be more me. My friends have been telling me for years that I need to stop hiding, so I'm trying. Consider this my request for accountability.
Star Wars and Harry Potter will always be here; Max just asked for a Harry Potter birthday party, so there will be posts there, and if you haven't checked out the epic Harry Potter Scavenger Hunt and Treasure Box Jamie I made, or this Star Wars bedroom update, you're seriously missing out.
I'll continue sharing my dialysis and (hopefully!) transplant journey. I've been through this before, but I've never blogged my way through it.
I just launched the first-ever More than Thursdays newsletter, which you can join right here.ย โฌ๏ธ You'll get a free geeky crafts eBook when you sign up, and I'll only email once a month. I'm already working on some cool partnerships and giveaways just for my newsletter subscribers, so I'd love for you to join!
So. Thanks for being here. Sometimes this weird life on the internet can feel like yelling into a void, and it's nice to know that I'm not alone out here.
