Things I love:
- Live Theater
- Wine
- Northern California
Add of these things together, and you're looking at perfection for me. This is why I'm so excited to be sharing with you about Transcendence Theatre Company's Fantastical Family Night coming up in July.
Transcendence Theatre Companyโs popular Broadway Under the Stars show series will present โFantastical Family Nightโ for two nights only July 15 and 16 in the 150-year old open-air Winery Ruins at Jack London State Historic Park in Glen Ellen. This is a fun family outing that begins with pre-show picnics and activities at 5 pm, prior to the 7:30 pm show. This inspirational evening of โdream livingโ is filled with songs from Broadway, Disney and so much more and features a special performance by the kids from Transcendenceโs Broadway Kids Camp. Audience participation is encouraged and since all the music is familiar, โFantastical Family Nightโ is an annual party for the whole family.
There are wines available from local wineries, and food trucks available for food, or you can bring your own dinner in as well. You're welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages with your picnic, but you can only buy wine on site.
I'm always looking for activities and experiences that let Max see kids doing cool and interesting things; it can be so easy to get caught up in our own routines, that it's easy to forget about all the other amazing things that are out there!
A highlight of the โFantastical Family Nightโ shows is the special performance by the Broadway Kids Camp campers as the team pays a โtranscendent tributeโ to the end of camp. The Kids Camp is a week-long fun experience with Transcendence Theatre Company staff of professionals mentoring children through a series of musical theatre workshops designed to build confidence, inspire creativity, and instill well-being in a non-competitive and nurturing environment.
While we live close to Glen Ellen, we aren't “let's drive home at 10pm after the show” close, so we're making a whole weekend of it! We've booked a campsite nearby, and will spend the weekend enjoying the surrounding area before attending the show on Saturday night. It's like a hybrid vay-staycataion. Or something.
