I wrote last month about starting 30 days on Jenny Craig, to help me kickstart some new habits in the new year. Well, here we are, at the end of 30 days, and I wanted to check in and let you know how it all went down.
Final numbers
At the end of 30 days, I lost drum roll please 9.6 lbs! (Results not typical. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs. per week. I received promotional consideration.) I'm pretty much thrilled with the final outcome, and that was WITH attending a big football party a couple of weeks ago where I basically set the plan aside and ate and drank what I wanted.
Pros and cons
Like I said, I really like how I don't have to think or plan too hard to succeed. Having all of my meals, and 2 snacks a day, ready to go made it so easy to just grab something when it was time to eat. I'm thankful that Cuties are in season right now as well, so getting a sweet treat in the form of fruit was easy as well.
The food is good; I'm not going to say it's fantastic cuisine, but there were few entrees that I downright didn't like, and I really appreciated the flexibility that's built into the menus. The food leads into one of the cons as well, though. After a month, I was tired of the texture. Microwave food is all so similarly textured, even my favorite meal choices were starting to become a struggle at the end of 30 days.
My consultant, Megan, suggested that I try heating in the oven instead to get a different result, but I never planned that far in advance that I wanted to wait for the oven, and because there are no oven instructions on the box, I didn't want to risk ruining my meal.
Overall thoughts
A month on Jenny Craig did exactly what I hoped it would do; it reset my habits and put me back to a place where I'm defaulting to better choices than I had been before. I really appreciate the ease that comes with the program; I simply don't have to think that hard about food, so I can focus on other things to improve myself.
I'm looking forward to the weather getting better as spring approaches, so that I can supplement my better choices with some exercise. I love a long walk on a beautiful day, and am ready for winter to be over!
